Controls Engineer (Industrial Automation)
A well-established, low-turnover industrial machinery manufacturer is hiring a Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of automated control systems. This role works on custom machinery with room for ownership, growth, and real technical impact within a team-driven culture.
What You’ll Do
- Design electrical control systems, schematics, and BOMs
- Program and debug PLCs (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell preferred), HMIs, and motion / servo controls
- Integrate sensors, pneumatics, and automation hardware
- Support machine installs, startup, and troubleshooting on-site and remotely
- Partner with mechanical engineering for full system integration
- Train and mentor service technicians
- Travel up to 50% overnight for customer support and commissioning
Required Experience
3+ years in Controls / Automation EngineeringBachelor’s in Electrical, Controls, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)PLC programming (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell)HMI developmentMotion / servo systems experienceElectrical schematic design (AutoCAD Electrical or similar)Industrial controls knowledge (sensors, pneumatics, VFDs, control panels)Strong troubleshooting in field and remote environmentsAbility to travel up to 50%Nice to Have
Thermoforming or plastics machinery experienceRobotics or material handling integrationVFDs, PID, EtherNet / IP, ModbusUL panel design or CE standardsCompensation & Schedule
Salary : $80K – $90K (open to $100K–$110K for advanced experience)Schedule : 8 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PMTravel : Up to 50%, overnight as needed
