Position Overview
The Director of Operations will work remotely and report directly to the Chief Operating Officer to coach, mentor, train and focus on the client experience, financial results, facilities management, budgets and KPI’s of your assigned hospitals and clinics. You will specifically train and develop the Practice Managers of each hospital / clinic on all operations related activities. Director of Operations' capabilities include a wide range of functional areas such as Operations, Training, People Team, Information Technology, and other back-office functions. You will also assist where needed in the recruitment and retention of all hospital-related positions, including the position of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). We are hiring for a Director of Operations for our West Region, which currently includes our General Practice Veterinary Hospitals within California, Nevada and Colorado.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop annual planning, budgeting, and hospital productivity levels for the hospitals in partnership with Support team, COO, regional leadership team, and hospital leadership.
- Provide training and support on UVC systems, technology, and support functions.
- Provide, coach, mentor, and train on “unmatched” client experience in all our veterinary hospitals and clinics.
- Support up to 20-25 or more hospitals and clinics at a time, especially as we realize rapid growth and acquisitions.
- Build collaborative relationships : build strong professional relationships with UVC team members and key stakeholders, including our sponsor, based on trust, collaboration, and value-adding work; maintain regular interactions with all the Support Office teams and maintain your knowledge, skills and best practices in the veterinary industry.
- Responsible for supporting, consulting and mentoring hospitals within an assigned area by regularly communicating with Practice Mangers
Weekly / Biweekly calls with Practice managers; reviewing performance through Hospital Score Cards, Power BI, Financial Statements.
Monthly calls reviewing Financial Performance and Client Experience KPIsDevelopment of comprehensive operational plans that promote healthy financial performance with regular review and refinement as needed for hospitals.Development and Delivery of group training (virtual); including hospital leadershipEnsure that all client concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely mannerPartnership with Hospital Leaders to develop action plans for continuous achievement of budgeted revenue and EBITDA targets with focus on key KPIs, including doctor and staff productivity, COGS management, average transaction growth, and order volume growth.Demonstrate integrity and ethics in all actions and behaviorsOther duties as assigned.Qualifications / Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in business, Education, Management, HR or related preferred.A minimum of 5 years’ experience in multi-site operations management.Requirement for candidate to live within California.Experience in the veterinary or healthcare field preferred.Proficiency in data analysis and business management preferred.Excellent leadership and communication skills.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Physical Requirements :
Frequent work at a computer for 90-100% of the time.Remote position with 50%-75% travel required.Frequent to moderate noise level in the work environment.Frequent ability to carry our instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form to solve problems involving several variables.Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch as well as manipulate (life, carry and move) up to 15 pounds.The physical requirements and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
