Overview
This is a highly specialized, independent, professional position that requires advanced knowledge in the management, inspection, and regulation of pollutant storage tank facilities within a regional area. The incumbent will independently conduct an environmental program within Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Bay, Washington, Holmes, and Walton Counties, including preparation of reports from DEP FIRST system and training of new inspectors. The majority of the time is spent in supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, motivate, train, and evaluate employees; develop performance expectations and conduct performance reviews.
- Plan and direct work assignments, maintain vacation and work schedules, and complete timesheets.
- Oversight of field staff under supervision, including review of employee submittals (activity reports, complaint cards, legal notices, inspection sheets).
- Provide technical assistance to employees, owners / operators of pollutant storage facilities, consultants, regulators, and the public.
- Coordinate pollutant storage tank program activities with Florida DEP, Florida Department of Professional Regulation, U.S. EPA, and other groups.
- Ensure employees are properly trained and have required safety training and knowledge for storage tank inspections.
- Conduct compliance inspections of pollutant storage tank facilities; prepare letters of noncompliance related to Chapter 62-761 and 62-762 of Florida Administrative Code.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including emergency management duties.
Qualifications
Valid Driver License and mandatory Defensive Driving Class required.Bachelor of Science Degree in a physical or natural science or engineering with formal training in petroleum-related subject.Valid HAZWOPER Certification 29 CFR 1910.120 or ability to obtain one within six months.Knowledge of Florida Administrative Codes 62-761 and 62-762.Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze, and interpret scientific or technical data; prepare technical reports.Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to environmental programs.Strong communication, problem-solving, and independent work skills.Experience in supervising people and managing environmental inspection programs.Legal Statements
