Job description
About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Analytics Consultant in our Merchant Services group as part of Data Infrastructure, Analytics & Reporting. In this role, you will serve as the Senior Data Architect & Analytics Lead, responsible for legacy system stewardship, SSRS cube-based reporting, and cloud modernization.
What You'll Do:

Legacy Environment Support & Deep Analysis
  • Perform in-depth analysis of legacy systems, including 15+ year-old code and undocumented processes, to identify issues and engineer durable solutions.
  • Maintain and enhance SSIS packages for ETL workflows, including automation and performance tuning.
  • Manage SQL Server-based data marts and SSRS reports connected to SSAS multidimensional cubes.
  • Use MDX queries in SSRS to extract data from SSAS cubes, enabling fast, multidimensional analysis across business dimensions and measures.
  • Design and optimize SSRS cube-based reports that support slicing and dicing of data across time, geography, product, and other dimensions.
  • Develop and optimize stored procedures for data retrieval and workflow automation.
  • Ensure data quality, lineage, security, and compliance across all legacy systems.
  • Document findings and create knowledge artifacts to reduce future technical debt and improve supportability.
Cloud Strategy & Modernization (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Collaborate with reporting and analytics teams to define and implement the Google Cloud migration strategy.
  • Design scalable, future-ready data architecture leveraging BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and ThoughtSpot.
  • Build data pipelines using Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines for data integration and deployment in GCP.
  • Implement governance, security, and cost optimization standards for cloud-based data solutions.
Analytics, Reporting & Business Impact
  • Advise leadership on analytical strategies, KPI frameworks, and advanced data visualization for complex business and technical needs.
  • Partner in the creation of a data environment that supports reporting needs and enables decision-making across Finance, Accounting, Customer Marketing, Operations, and Risk.
  • Translate business requirements into robust data models, semantic layers, and dashboards.
  • Create and maintain Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports for business segment management; deliver proactive insights and ad-hoc analyses.
  • Lead process improvement strategies that simplify and automate financial reporting and analytics.
Leadership, Governance & Collaboration
  • Design and lead complex, cross-functional projects with long-term, enterprise-scale impact.
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on innovative data solutions aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Engage with peers, senior leaders, risk, compliance, and finance as a trusted advisor.
  • Mentor team members; foster a culture of innovation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead new projects and ongoing maintenance of the Merchant Services MIS infrastructure.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Analytics & Reporting, Financial Modeling, Statistics, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Expert-level experience with SSIS, SSRS (including SSAS cube integration), SQL Server, and stored procedures.
  • Strong ETL design, dimensional modeling, and data warehousing fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
  • Familiarity with Power BI and semantic modeling.
  • Proven ability to investigate undocumented systems and resolve complex issues independently.
  • Strong analytical mindset with persistence to solve challenging problems.
Required Qualifications for Europe, Middle East & Africa only:

Desired Qualifications:
  • Finance and financial services industry experience; strong understanding of Merchant Services P&L and profitability drivers.
  • Experience supporting the development of financial and analytical reporting systems and MIS infrastructure enhancements.
  • Experience coordinating delivery across data warehousing and reporting infrastructure.
  • Project management experience leading multi-team data initiatives.
  • Knowledge of SQL or SAS, and MDX for SSRS cube reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub).
  • Knowledge of DevOps/CI-CD practices for data (testing, versioning, deployment, observability).
  • Exposure to Databricks, Spark, BigQuery, MongoDB, and or Postgres.
  • GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Data Engineer) are a plus.
  • Experience migrating legacy ETL and reporting solutions to GCP.
Job Expectations:
  • Own complex problem-solving in a challenging legacy environment and make a lasting impact.
  • Drive transformation from legacy platforms to a modern, governed cloud architecture.
  • Work on mission-critical systems while shaping the future data strategy and enabling advanced analytics.
