Job Description :

The Fabrication Lead is responsible for overseeing production and providing guidance for employees within the Fab dept., coordinating with manager on daily requirements, and establishing plans to accomplish those goals. The lead will ensure adherence to all SCT safety guidelines and procedures. Applicants must have extensive experience in welding / fabrication, overhead crane operation, jigging, and efficient manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will know how to operate press brakes, saws, welders, and know fitting, and finishing processes. This person will be responsible for overseeing staff with an emphasis on teamwork, continuous improvement, safety, quality, and on time delivery. The fab lead must be a motivated leader with good communication skills, common sense, and willingness to learn and try new manufacturing concepts.

Qualifications :

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Bilingual and experience in lean manufacturing are a plus.
  • At least 5 years in fabrication / manufacturing with a minimum of 2 years as a lead.

  • Detailed oriented individual able to frequently perform multiple tasks at a given time.
  • Able to independently perform simple calculations and fit up parts / pcs.

  • Job Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Coordinate movement of production and team members to meet production schedules.
  • Ensure efficient and accurate production of all SCT products with the highest quality.
  • Work proactively to finish jobs based on production schedules and customer deadlines.
  • Monitor inventory levels of materials and supplies and communicate with Inventory team to ensure availability and timely replenishment.
  • Has full responsibility for maintenance of all the equipment associated with this job.
  • Review and follow the work order and best practice requirements.
  • Work with manager to anticipate and identify departmental bottlenecks and take corrective action.
  • Read and understand build prints.
  • Work closely with Install and Paint department managers to meet customer expectations for delivery and quality.
  • Foster an environment of teamwork, learning and continuous improvement.
  • Place a strong emphasis on safety requirements.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures in accordance with our QMS.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Deliverables :

  • Jobs must be completed correctly within the hours quoted.
  • QC kickbacks / mistakes must be corrected prior to bead blasting, and metrics must show steady month to month decline in returns or kickbacks.
  • Measurable improvements from each team member within 90 days of identifying issues.
  • Sustain repeatability on standard builds to maximize profitability.
  • Production tracker kept up to date with the latest information for techs and sales.
  • Report daily any mistakes made in the fabrication process and how to prevent it from happening again.

    Benefits include : paid holidays after the first 90 days of employment, 2 weeks accrued PTO during the first year of employment and 3 weeks accrued PTO during the second year of employment, annual bonuses, growth within the company, overtime opportunities and competitive pay. $25-$35 hourly starting range DOE.
