Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 4748) role at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The role uses elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model to develop and promote a sales culture and provide outstanding guest service experiences. The Assistant Store Manager helps ensure products are easy to see and buy, builds sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, maintains a clean, organized environment, and grows guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns quickly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors during every transaction, and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases / returns accurately using the POS system, including making correct changes, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and ensuring top-notch guest service.
- Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed.
- Promote GameStop guest benefits such as the new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on company policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback, address unsatisfactory performance as directed, and ensure alignment with guest service expectations.
- Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure onboarding and training for associates prior to opening or closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities.
- Assist with staffing and scheduling to maintain optimum guest service; supervise breaks and meal times as required.
- Approve payroll, manage time off requests, and verify compensation for time worked.
- Ensure store areas are clean, organized, merchandised per guidelines, and equipment is in proper working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing and report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required admin and operational duties.
- Perform inventory counts, stock / restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct inventories; communicate discrepancies to the Store Manager / District Manager.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls accurately; label boxes with packing lists.
- Maintain guest and associate safety; report injuries promptly per guidelines.
- Maintain store records / files in an organized manner and keep manuals up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Adhere to opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Job Skills and Abilities
