Engineering Operations Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Engineering Operations Manager to lead operational excellence within our Enterprise Engineering organization, supporting a high-impact team of approximately 350 engineers and technical staff. This individual will be responsible for optimizing workflows, enhancing cross-functional alignment, and ensuring the successful execution of engineering priorities including; customer driven projects, IR&D portfolio, engineering processes and electrification, autonomy, product lifecycle management (PLM), and digital engineering initiatives.
As a key operational leader in a medium-heavy equipment and specialty automotive environment, the ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of engineering lifecycle processesfrom R&D through productionand is adept at navigating complex program structures involving manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and product strategy.
Your Impact
Engineering Operations & Governance
- Build, implement, and refine scalable engineering operations processes to support multi-year product development across vehicle platforms.
- Establish consistent metrics, KPIs, and reporting frameworks for engineering performance, resource allocation, product cost targets, and delivery milestones.
- Ensure cross-program visibility and provide timely updates to executive stakeholders on engineering initiatives, capacity, and roadblocks.
Program and Portfolio Execution
Oversee governance of the engineering project portfolio including major new product introductions (NPIs), technology insertions (e.g., electrification, autonomy), and sustainment efforts.Collaborate with program managers, engineering leads, and platform directors to ensure project execution aligns with scope, budget, and schedule targets.Facilitate stage gate reviews, engineering change control, and product readiness assessments in coordination with quality, procurement, and operations teams.Strategic & Resource Planning
Lead engineering planning cycles, including annual budget development, capital planning, workforce modeling, and contractor / partner management.Support long-range planning for digital transformation, manufacturing readiness, and product lifecycle integration.Align engineering resource needs with corporate roadmaps, business unit forecasts, and customer demand profiles.Operational Efficiency & Continuous Improvement
Champion continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and Agile methodologies to streamline engineering workflows and reduce cycle times.Identify and deploy tools and platforms that enhance collaboration, model-based design, and data-driven decision-making across mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering domains.Drive adoption of PLM and digital thread initiatives in collaboration with IT and product configuration teams.People, Culture & Communications
Coordinate with HR and Talent Development teams to improve onboarding, career pathing, training, and engagement across engineering disciplines.Facilitate engineering-wide communications, including town halls, leadership reviews, newsletters, and executive briefings.Promote a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and innovation in alignment with company values.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Operations, or a related technical field.7+ years of experience in engineering operations, program management, or technical leadership in a manufacturing, automotive, or industrial setting.Deep understanding of engineering lifecycle in vehicle development or complex machinery, including systems integration, validation, and production support.Proven ability to implement operational frameworks across large, multi-disciplinary teams (300+).Proficient in tools such as PTC Windchill, Jira, MS Project, Power BI, and enterprise PLM / ERP platforms.Standout Qualifications
MBA or Masters degree in Engineering Management or Industrial Engineering.Certifications in PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or Agile / Scrum.Experience with digital engineering transformations including model-based systems engineering (MBSE), simulation, or embedded software development environments.Pay Range :
$102,800.00 - $176,800.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidates experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
