Overview
UMIAQ Design is seeking an architectural designer to collaborate on building design projects across the state of Alaska. The UMIAQ Design architectural team is actively working on many exciting long term design projects. The architectural designer will work and interact with a small team of professionals in a collaborative office setting.
Responsibilities
- Develop building design and construction drawings with Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit software
- Stay current on materials, building technologies, and construction methods
- Select building products and materials
- Ensure that designs comply with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other professionals involved in the design process
- Review construction materials and techniques to ensure they meet quality standards
- Collaborate with clients to determine project requirements and design parameters
- Assist in the development and presentation of design proposals and designs
Minimum Qualifications
Final year or completed Bachelor of Architecture or Master's in Architecture from an accredited programStrong design skills and ability to communicate design ideas clearlyAttention to detail, motivated, and self-reliantProficiency with AutoCAD and Revit Design software, and Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulationsArctic or northern design experience is desirableUnderstanding of building materials and methodsStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsStrong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and creativityPreferred Qualifications
3+ years of related work experience in an architectural officeSurveying backgroundPhysical and Mental Demands
