Our first store opened on January 2nd, 1980 in Anaheim CA and since then we have grown to 41 stores in three counties : Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Riverside.
We offer our customers a full service supermarket with a large meat department, bakery, tortilleria and prepared foods in addition to a sizeable section of domestic and imported Latin American grocery goods to provide a Mexican homeland experience.

JOB SUMMARY : The Store Team Leader is responsible to oversee daily store operations and provide overall leadership and direction to achieve profitable operation of the retail store as assigned.
The Store Team Leader ensures that the right people are in the right positions doing the right things at the right times and that the goals of full, fresh, clean, signed and friendly are achieved.
The Store Team Leader drives and maintains a positive working environment that engages and empowers all associates. The Store Team Leader is responsible to develop and train the store department team leaders and associates to continually grow their capacity for efficiency, effectiveness and service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Leadership :
- Maintain a positive work environment and ensure fair and consistent treatment of all associates. Set a positive example of the company values and excellent customer service.
- Recruit, select, on-board, coach, and develop the best associates possible to achieve store, company, strategic and tactical goals.
- Set clear performance expectations for associates and follow-up with timely performance evaluations and proper compensation.
- Ensure succession planning and adequate bench strength is developed.
Operations :
- Schedule associates effectively to optimize sales and provide an outstanding customer experience within budget requirements for the store.
- Maintain high operational standards to include clean store conditions both inside and outside, optimum freshness of merchandise, merchandising to achieve maximum sales and profits and proper rotation of all stock.
- Ensure all displays are built for maximum sales and profits, are visually appealing, include tie?in merchandise when applicable, and are properly signed.
- Clearly communicate and enforce standards for quality, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, store conditions, 5S and food safety to all departments and the store.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations at store level, and ensure proper reporting is complete and accurate.
- Ensure that all associates comply with company cash and check handling policies and procedures, alcohol and tobacco compliance, government program compliance, etc.
- Control inventory levels to minimize over?stocks, under?stocks, and out-of-stocks within the policy guidelines and targets set for the store to maximize sales, inventory turns, cash flow, and return?on?investment.
- Ensure that all merchandise is properly priced in accordance with the pricing guidelines.
- Maintain current knowledge of market conditions and competitive activity through periodic review of competition.
- Develop quarterly sales, income, expense, capital and labor budgets for the store.
- Monitor and control expenses to be in line with budgets. Manage with a basis-point (.01%) frame of reference.
Safety :
- Maintain building, fixtures, storage facilities, and equipment in optimal operational condition, monitor maintenance and repairs and manage expenses of same.
- Promote a safe and accident free work and shopping environment.
- Ensure proper protective equipment is available and used while setting an example of safe work practices.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS :
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
8-10 years of successful experience in various areas of store management, including department team leader, customer service and assistant store team leader.
4-Year College degree or equivalent industry education and / or experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the grocery industry and all aspects of store management and operations.
- Ability to read, understand and analyze income and financial statements; create operating budgets and financial forecasts;
balance cash receipts or vault cash counts; readily detect and troubleshoot errors and omissions; and calculate gross margins and productivity yardsticks
- Exemplifies the desired culture, values and philosophies of the organization (high ethics, integrity, trust, respect, loyalty and humility).
- Ability to lead, manage and administer a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints, counseling other team leaders and associates on company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws applicable to effectively running a store, governmental compliance requirements, employment and labor laws, including immigration laws and processes.
- Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with company standards, practices, policies, procedures, or government regulations or law.
Ability to plan, prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and follow-through.
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand both English and Spanish sufficiently to understand conversations, presentations, company manuals, forms and documents.
- Ability to prepare effective written reports, correspondences, and presentations to management as required.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, relate well to all kinds of people; to be approachable
- Working knowledge of information technology, including hardware (personal computers) and software applications (including Microsoft Office), used in store operations.
- Proven leadership and ability to motivate, inspire and create engagement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to listen, comprehend and communicate effectively.
They must be able to maintain a physical condition and stamina appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include : sitting for extended periods of time, walking (including touring stores) and operating assig
