Job Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary :

Under the direction of the Supervisor the Laboratory Assistant is responsible for collecting receiving and processing blood specimens; receiving and processing specimens for bacterial culture. Duties include : receiving and processing blood samples; centrifugation and loading barcoded specimens onto automated analyzers that are interfaced to the LIS; preparing aliquots and handling of reference lab specimens; performing waived and moderate complexity testing under direct supervision. Additional duties include clerical and telephone communication in support of the Laboratories functions.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements :

• CA CPT-2 LICENSE and Heartsaver required
• Education level necessary to obtain required licensure and certifications.
• CPI class will be completed within 90 days of hire and every other year thereafter.

Desired Skills and Experience :

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
