Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed ICU position with night shifts and advanced critical care patient management.
Responsibilities
Provides care in a 39-bed mixed ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) within a hospital settingPatient population includes complex surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma casesRN to patient ratios vary from 1 : 1 to 1 : 2, rarely 1 : 3, depending on acuity12-hour night shifts with every other weekend rotationEpic charting is required in the ICUFloating is uncommon, but may include adult MedSurg / Tele units if overstaffedOrientation includes a hospital session, one 12-hour ICU shift, and one 8-hour ICU shiftResponsibilities include managing complex critical care patients, including those with ARDS, MI, CVA / TIA, post-surgical needs, and multiple traumaCardiac experience, such as care after CABG / TAVR and use of devices like Impella, IABP, and CRRT, is strongly preferredMust be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-acuity ICU working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary teamSupport services include nurse aides, charge nurses, resource nurse, 24 / 7 RT, physicians, and advanced practice providersScrub color is navyNo requested time off is allowed during holidays or during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August each year)Free parking availableFirst-time travelers will not be consideredRequirements
Active RN license through the South Dakota Board of Nursing or compact eligibilityMinimum 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience is preferred; 1.5 years with significant additional RN experience may be consideredCompletion of a board-approved nursing education programRequired certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (must be willing to obtain TNCC prior to start)Prior travel nursing experience (at least one travel assignment required)Experience with Epic EMRStrong skills in managing patients with IV medications, hemodynamic lines, ventilators, proning, and telemetryMust reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facilityPermanent staff must wait one year before returning as a travelerBenefits
