Superintendent Intern
The Superintendent Intern is a hands-on experience-based role that functions as a key member of the field construction team. You will assist Superintendents with daily reports, safety walks, quality control, plan reading, meetings, crew management and weekly schedule updates. You will gain knowledge and experience while assisting with Project Logistics, scheduling, safety, cost control, and will have frequent interaction with the owner / client, consultants, and subcontractors. The level of involvement depends on specific project needs, Superintendent needs, and your individual abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- City Inspection Participation (all city inspections)
- Schedule inspections with the correct department
- Prior to inspection, review areas on contract documents and verify compliance in the field with the trade partner
- Walk with Superintendent and inspector to get areas signed off
- Meeting Deputy Inspector and walking structural elements prior to pour and assist in getting items completed
- Scheduling
- Sit in weekly PM / Superintendent internal scheduling meetings
- Assist in updates (P6 or excel) and / or concrete look-ahead schedules
- Acquire knowledge and experience to enable drafting of a scheduling matrix that captures durations & quantities based on a specific scenario
- Safety
- Assist / attend all subcontractor pre-con meetings
- Daily / Weekly inspections
- Join company safety committee meetings
- Attend and document all site safety meetings
- Depending on project phase, identify potential to be obtained during internship
- Assist Super in auditing concrete crews JHA's, pre-task plans and trainings
- Quality Control
- Perform all applicable QC related tasks / forms during the different phases of work
- Plan Reading
- Learn and practice fundamentals of feet in hundredths and civil stations
- Interface with PMs and review shop drawings of on-going work and cross reference with contract drawings
- Become familiar with the process of RFI posting (not actually post RFIs)

- Attend and complete "superintendent document control" for the following meetings :
- Foreman
- Internal team
- Safety
- Owners'
- Subcontractor kick-off
- Pre-installation
- Consultant observations
- Concrete Crew Management
- Working with layout crew
- Ordering materials
- Reviewing timesheets
- Performing quantity takeoffs
- Assisting in concrete pours (truck monitoring, ready mix ticket review, etc.)
- Reviewing 245 reports
- Formwork material tracking
Requirements
Education / Training :
Completion or in the course of completing a 4-year bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, business, or construction management or equivalent combination of experience and / or training within a technical fieldExperience Required :

Understanding of construction trade software including Procore, Hammertech, Primavera, Bluebeam, and Microsoft OfficeExcellent leadership and problem-solving skills, organization, communication and customer service skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines on a regular basisPhysical Demands
