Overview
Seeking an experienced finance and accounting professional to oversee critical aspects of fund and management company operations. This role will manage a cross-functional team, lead key accounting and compliance initiatives, and ensure the highest quality of financial reporting and controls. The ideal candidate brings both technical expertise and strong leadership skills, with a proven track record in alternative investments.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and mentor a team of four professionals across tax, fund finance, and management company accounting.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture while ensuring effective delegation and development of staff.
- Review all fund and management company financial statements prior to distribution, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Lead the management company expense allocation process, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to policies.
- Oversee treasury operations, including all banking payments, and review capital activity of the funds (contributions and distributions).
Third-Party & Operational Oversight
Manage relationships with key third parties, including fund administrators, banking partners, audit firms, and other service providers.Collaborate with external compliance partners to ensure accurate and timely Know Your Customer (KYC) sign-offs for new investors.Compliance & Risk Management
Assist with compliance-related matters, including preparation of regulatory filings, compliance data tracking, and fund covenant monitoring.Support internal controls and best practices to mitigate financial and operational risk.Partner with the investor relations team to address Limited Partner (LP) questions during fundraising.Coordinate with third-party compliance firms to meet onboarding and reporting requirements for new investors.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (advanced degree a plus).Public accounting foundation, ideally with Big 4 experience.8+ years of progressive experience within the alternative investment industry.Strong technical skills, particularly in Excel and financial modeling.Demonstrated ability to interact with and present to senior management and stakeholders.Strong leadership and team-building skills.Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Effective communicator, capable of explaining complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.Problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Strategic mindset with hands-on execution ability.Seniority level
