The City of Goleta invites qualified applicants to apply for up to two (2) internship vacancies in the Public Works Department.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for this position has obtained or is currently pursuing a degree in engineering, construction management, or public administration from an accredited college or university. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain cooperative working relationships.
ABOUT THE POSITION
This position will assist with clerical and administrative tasks related to Public Works projects. Assignments may include, but are not limited to, electronic document filing, records management, creating spreadsheets, preparing presentations, data entry, conducting research, creating map displays, and compiling or organizing data and documents. The intern may also assist with internal and external departmental communications and public outreach.

The Public Works Department is comprised of eight Programs and Divisions including Administration, Engineering, Parks and Open Space, Capital Improvement Program, Street Lighting, Traffic Engineering Operations and Maintenance, Street Maintenance, and Solid Waste and Environmental Services. If internship assignment requires driving, incumbent must possess a valid California driver's license.
Supplemental Information
Schedule : Interns work a flexible schedule agreed upon with the City and intern. Interns will be limited to not more than 999 hours in any July through June fiscal year. Weekly schedule and hours are flexible and are to be coordinated between the City and the intern.
Classification and Salary : Interns will be paid an hourly wage as established by the City Council and shall not be eligible for other City benefits.
