Job Description : Senior Auditor

Overview :

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Auditor to join their dynamic team. As a Senior Auditor, you will play a pivotal role in leading and executing financial audits for governmental entities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing valuable insights to enhance financial performance and accountability.

Responsibilities :

Lead Audit Engagements : Take charge of planning, coordinating, and executing financial audits for government agencies, including scoping engagements, defining audit objectives, and developing risk-based audit plans.

Conduct Fieldwork : Perform detailed testing of financial transactions, internal controls, and compliance procedures to assess the accuracy, completeness, and validity of financial records and reporting.

Evaluate Internal Controls : Assess the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards, identifying deficiencies and recommending corrective actions as needed.

Review Financial Statements : Review financial statements, disclosures, and related documentation prepared by management, ensuring adherence to applicable accounting principles, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Prepare Audit Reports : Compile comprehensive audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations in clear and concise audit reports, communicating results to management and stakeholders and providing actionable insights for improvement.

Manage Audit Teams : Supervise and mentor audit staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the successful completion of audit engagements and the professional development of team members.

Engage with Clients : Cultivate strong relationships with client personnel, including finance and accounting professionals, to facilitate open communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing throughout the audit process.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in auditing, with a focus on governmental entities.

Thorough understanding of auditing standards, principles, and techniques, including Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify audit issues.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members at all levels.

Proficiency in audit software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
