Architect / Designer

Overview

OPerA Studio Architecture is searching for an intermediate level architect with a minimum of three years experience. We are a small multi-disciplinary studio working on a number of project types from commercial to residential and cultural facilities. We are focused on exploring compositional strategies in design at the service of the performance needs of the project. Research is a part of all of our design projects, with consideration of typologies and strategies at the core of our thinking.

Responsibilities

You will work on all aspects of projects from programming and schematics through to site administration. We have a lot of exciting work on the boards. Most of our work is in NYC, so you will get lots of field experience seeing small to medium projects through construction and deal with all aspects of the process.

Qualifications

We believe that software can be learned on the job, so we don\'t have any specific software knowledge requirements. Instead, we are looking for candidates who : can draw and convey design intentions through drawings clearly; can develop strong design concepts; have good compositional skills; understand the craft of making buildings and how to convey that.
