Department Description
The Department of Respiratory Therapy provides respiratory care under the direction of a Pulmonologist. Inpatient and Emergency procedures are available at all three campuses, with outpatient testing available at Somerville and Everett.
Job Purpose
To provide and oversee all aspects of care related to performing and scoring sleep studies and EEG's, under medical direction in a timely, efficient, safe, and personable manner. The PSG Technician will administer diagnostic modalities that include, but are not limited to, set up and initiation of in lab diagnostic sleep studies, CPAP Titrations, Bi-Level Titrations, MSLT studies, Home Sleep Testing, education of patients and families regarding sleep diagnosis and treatment of related disorders, and sleep hygiene.
Qualifications / Requirements
Education and / or Experience
Successful completion of an accredited Sleep Technology educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree. One of the following credentials is required : Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
Certifications
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification.
Previous Experience
One year of polysomnography experience with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients preferred.
