Responsibilities
Works under the general guidance and direction of the Shift Sergeant or other superior officers as necessary, to perform law enforcement work in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of individual citizens. Officers of this rank enforce City, County, State and Federal Statutes, laws and ordinances. Police officers preserve peace; prevent, detect and investigate accidents and crimes; arrest violators; and provide aid and comfort to citizens in emergency situations. General responsibility includes traffic, patrol and general law enforcement, policy community relations, and record keeping and reports.

Equipment / Job Location
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position will be primarily located in the field, and likely will be exposed to emergency and disaster situations. When in the office the position will use common office supplies and equipment, and the noise level is typically quiet. Exposure to computer monitors in the office and police vehicle is typical. This position works closely with others.
