What The Parent Coordinator Does :

  • Help parents with the subsidy needed & availability of local daycare service, and / or educate parents on Head Start / Early Head Start.
  • Ensure parents are aware of and planning to enroll their children in pre-K.
  • Ensure all parents are aware of WIC and enrolled if eligible.
  • Support the internal DARE (Data Analysis Research & Evaluation) team on tracking immunizations, pediatrician and well-baby visits.
  • Plan and facilitate educational presentations regarding maternal health, parenting, child health and development.
  • In collaboration with the social service team, conduct screenings, assist in the preparation of independent living plans, including short-term and long-term participant goals.
  • Evaluate families with the greatest challenges results to identify additional resources needed for parenting success.
  • Provide all required information for weekly / monthly / quarterly / annual reports.
  • For families who need additional but not intensive support, create recommendations / tools to be shared with staff during scheduled training sessions.
  • Consult with others both inside and outside of CAMBA to determine causes of participant problems and effective solutions.
  • Provide group counseling services to assist clients and their families to achieve healthy relationships, emotional stability, personal development and / or adjustment.
  • Monitor clients’ progress toward their goals via regularly scheduled telephone contact and / or face-to-face home and office visits, and document via progress notes.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate social / peer support events, including group facilitation for clients.
  • May act as client liaison / client advocate with outside organizations regarding such matters as parenting strategies.
  • May prepare marketing materials for the program.
  • May prescreen clients over the telephone for eligibility and may schedule intake appointments.
  • May assist clients in completing applications for benefits and entitlements and may process applications on clients’ behalf.

Minimum Education / Experience Required :

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) and / or equivalent experience.

Other Requirements :

  • Must obtain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance, The Register of Substantiated Category One Cases of Abuse or Neglect aka Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance and Criminal history information checks via fingerprinting with New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services prior to start of employment.
  • Ability to maintain clearances throughout the duration of employment.
  • Must be bi-lingual in Spanish

Compensation : $50,000-$55,000 annually

When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate.

This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and / or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status : Full-time (35 hours per week)
