Physician Assistant– Pain Management

Education : HCW must have a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies degree from a PA educational program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission for the Physician Assistant or its predecessors, and acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF, is mandatory – OR – f Must have successfully completed all education and training requirements leading to and graduated from an accredited national, state or military equivalent school (MSN or DNP degree) for Nurse Practitioner (Family and / or Geriatric Specialty)

Experience : Shall have a minimum of 24 months of experience working as a Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner within the last 36 months. Previous experience in pain management or related fields is required, including knowledge of interventional pain management techniques, pharmacotherapy for chronic pain, and multimodal pain management strategies. Strongly preferred working knowledge of the military healthcare system, including TRICARE health benefits and familiarity with the unique needs of military families.

Roles and Responsibilities :

o Examination of patients, formulation differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing.

o Interpretation of examination findings and test results, and implementation of treatment plans.

o Answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff.

o Ensure a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.

o Prepare records and reports as required in support of services rendered in accordance with established procedures.

o Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual re-evaluations, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.

o Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations.

o Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.

o Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice.

o Medical Procedures : Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices, including :

o Emergency Procedures : Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures to provide immediate care during emergencies (e.g., respiratory or cardiac arrest) and respond appropriately to urgent or emergent care situations, initiating interventions as needed and following established protocols for patient care.
