Southwest Licking Schools District Office The substitute nurse at Southwest Licking Schools is responsible for providing comprehensive health services to students in the absence of the regular school nurse.

This role involves responding to health-related situations, administering medical care, maintaining health records, and collaborating with school staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students.

Location varies based on need.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Health Care Delivery :

• Provide immediate and appropriate care to students and staff in case of illness, injury, or emergency situations.
• Administer medication and treatments according to physician's orders and school policies.
• Assess and manage student health concerns, including chronic conditions, injuries, and infectious diseases.
• Conduct health screenings and assessments as required by school policies or state regulations.
• Monitor and manage the health room, ensuring cleanliness and proper maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.

2. Record-Keeping and Documentation :

• Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students and staff, including immunization records, health assessments, and treatment logs.
• Prepare and submit reports as required by the school district, state, or health department.

3. Communication and Collaboration :

• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and healthcare providers regarding student health concerns and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to address health-related issues impacting students' academic success and well-being.
• Participate in meetings, committees, and professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in school health services.

4. Emergency Preparedness :

• Develop and implement emergency response protocols in collaboration with school administration.
• Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures and respond effectively to crises or medical emergencies within the school setting.

Qualifications :

• Current registered nurse OH RN or LPN license.
• Preferred Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm and provide effective care in emergency situations.
• Proficient in basic computer skills and record-keeping.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work in a variety of situations.
• Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
