About The Role
Join one of the world's leading renewable energy consulting firms, dedicated to advancing a just energy transition and mitigating climate change. Within DNV's Renewables and Power Grids group, contribute to high-impact renewable energy and energy transition projects as a Senior Electrical Engineer. You will work with a team of seasoned experts delivering technical due diligence and advisory support across Independent Engineering, Markets & Acquisitions, Owner's Engineering, and Electrical Engineering consulting engagements in the North American market and beyond. You will apply your expertise in power systems, electronics, controls, and instrumentation to support project design, development, and construction, driving innovation and delivering customer value.
This position can be located in our Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Medford, MA; Oakland, CA; San Diego, CA; Portland, OR; and Seattle, WA offices, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees typically spend three days per week working from an office or client site. Other DNV offices may also be considered.
What You'll Do
- Act and lead as a collaborative Electrical Engineering subject matter expert across projects
- Author and review technical reports cross-organizationally (Independent Engineering, M&A Advisory, Owner's Engineering)
- Critically assess transmission, substation, and collection system designs with a focus on safety, cost, and functionality
- Lead proposal development and manage small to medium-sized consulting projects
- Drive business development by identifying client needs, shaping service offerings, and cultivating long-term relationships with key accounts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, prototype, and deploy AI-powered tools that support engineering analysis, automation, and decision-making
- Contribute to market positioning and thought leadership (committees, conferences, webinars, whitepapers, blog posts)
- Review electrical designs and studies for solar, onshore / offshore wind, high-voltage substations, and other electric system components
- Perform or review power system studies (grounding, reactive power, cable ampacity, collection system design)
- Provide guidance and training in electrical commissioning, safety, and procedures
- Participate in field and analytical work across the full spectrum of electric power systems with collaboration from turbine, solar, environmental, and civil engineering experts

What is Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university7+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy projects (e.g., wind, solar, battery, hydrogen, and / or power electronics)Professional Engineer (PE or PEng) licensureKnowledge of IEEE, IEC, NEC, and CIGRE standards and guidelinesExperience in electrical system design and construction (distribution, substation, generation) and electrical system studies / modellingFamiliarity with Python, MATLAB, or other engineering analytics tools, complemented with AI acceleratorsStrong oral and written communication skills in EnglishPre-employment drug and background screeningWhat Is Preferred
