GME (Global Manufacturing Engineer) is a cross-functional team with primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants, powertrain & battery cell plants, and assemblies at component plants. The Manufacturing Engineer candidate will be part of this team.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Manufacturing and Quality Operating System requirements for Powertrain eMotor (Rotor / Stator).
- Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
- Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume manufacturing operations.
- Write / modify / maintain process sheets and deliver an entire process.
- Lead identification, resolution, and closure of eMotor, Assembly, Test, Controls, Ergonomics, Safety and other feasibility issues.
- Create and follow a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of tools in your subsystem.
- Lead assembly and other start-up activities associated with commissioning at the manufacturing site. Support equipment trials at vendor facilities prior to shipment to Ford.
- Lead identification, resolution, and closure of all launch product and tooling issues, working closely with operations teams.
- Develop "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
- Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation initiatives.
- Interface with cross-functional activities (Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Purchasing, Facilities, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
BSc, Mechanical Engineering (or another related field)5-10+ years' experience in the Automotive Manufacturing arena, preferably as a Process Engineer working with eMotor Powertrain components (Stators / Rotors)Preferred Qualifications :
Ability to work effectively as part of a teamAbility to support and launch programs onsiteStrong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindsetStrong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.)3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principlesStrong verbal & written communication and presentation skillsAbility to operate in stressful situations within timing constraintsAbility to work with minimal direct supervisionWorking knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, GD&T etc.)Knowledge in Ford software systems : WERS, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIMs, Ariba / AuroraError proofingAbility to travel (including extended travel) to assembly and component plants in USA, Canada, and Mexico required (uncommon)This role will be based out of Sterling Heights, MI thru 2026You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
