This remote leadership role is ideal for an experienced program director to oversee complex state-level programs within the federal healthcare and IT sectors. The position involves managing multi-million-dollar contracts, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring projects and services are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, including senior leadership, functional managers, and clients, to drive operational excellence, implement process improvements, and achieve measurable outcomes. The role requires strong decision-making, risk management, and program oversight skills, with opportunities to influence strategic initiatives and support organizational growth. Candidates will have a direct impact on program performance, client satisfaction, and the development of innovative solutions in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
Accountabilities :
- Lead and manage sophisticated state programs delivering healthcare, SaaS, or MES services, ensuring alignment with program objectives and client expectations.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, and personnel, exercising independent judgment to solve complex technical, clinical, and administrative challenges.
- Drive strategic initiatives, program performance, and organizational growth while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
- Manage risk, monitor deliverables, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements, policies, and regulations.
- Provide program oversight across multiple teams and projects, including pre-launch preparation, daily operations, and performance reporting.
- Support cross-regional collaboration, serve as a subject matter expert, and lead transformation initiatives to enhance program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with business development to support new opportunities and contribute to strategic planning and policy development.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field with 12+ years of program management experience, or High School / GED with 16+ years of equivalent experience.Demonstrated experience managing complex programs or projects with annual contract values exceeding $20M or total contract values over $150M.Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, or healthcare claims processing systems and regulatory requirements.Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required within one year of hire.Strong skills in Microsoft Project, SharePoint, MS Teams, and project metrics reporting.Proven leadership, people management, and communication skills with the ability to influence across teams and stakeholders.Ability to exercise independent judgment, solve complex problems, meet deadlines, and ensure contract deliverables.Willingness to travel up to 30%, program dependent; preference for candidates within 2 hours of Washington DC for occasional onsite work.Preferred : Master’s degree in Healthcare or Business Administration, knowledge of healthcare operations best practices, regulatory compliance, budget management, and program evaluation metrics.Benefits
