Human Resources Generalist

Purpose: This position is responsible for day-to-day administration of attendance-related programs. Also responsible for designing wellness programs and motivational incentives to control absenteeism.

Position reports to: Director of Human Resources

Principal Job Functions:

• Administers sick pay process for unionized employeesprocesses sick pay and disability claims for Maintenance and Operations Departmentreceives all documentation pertinent to sick pay processenters information into personnel databaseobtains additional information from physicians where neededverifies all documentation is legitimate as per Attendance Policyserves as employee contact for sick pay discrepanciesmaintains recordscoordinates with management
• Administers Employee Recognition Program-Develop Wellness incentives for company.
• Responsible for tracking and managing programs related to employee attendance:Sick LeaveShort-Term DisabilityFamily and Medical LeaveWorker’s CompensationBereavement Leave
• Assists in other employment-related programsDrug-Free WorkplaceEEO ProgramNew hire employment processEmployee health plan

Recommended Preparation for Employment:

Possession of a bachelor's degree and three to five years comparable HR or supervisory experience; or, seven years of comparable HR or supervisory; or, any similar combination of education and experience. Must have thorough knowledge of employment laws especially related to Workers’ Compensation, Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act and a basic understanding of human resource functions. Must have knowledge of all related computer applications.
