Minimum : $126,161.00 - Maximum : $191,135.00
The initial salary offer will be between the minimum and midpoint range, based on the candidate's experience.

Current Assignment
BART is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking Engineer to join our Track Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support and shape the reliability, safety, and efficiency of one of the nation's leading transit systems serving the entire San Francisco Bay Area.
The selected Engineer will play a key role in the planning, design, inspection, and maintenance oversight of BART's track infrastructure. Working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and operations staff, you will ensure that our rail system meets the highest standards of safety, operational performance, and sustainability.

Role Responsibilities
This position involves work in active railroad environments, including tunnels, aerial structures, and construction zones. Candidates must be able to maintain the physical condition necessary to safely perform fieldwork in and around active train operations. This includes working near live electrical equipment, in confined spaces such as tunnels, and in occasionally noisy, dirty, or inclement conditions. This role requires the ability to climb ladders and stairs, and to navigate uneven surfaces such as railway ballast, construction areas, and both elevated and underground structures. Candidates must also be willing to work night shifts (up to five nights per week), weekends, and overtime as needed to support operational demands and emergency response efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university. Experience Two (2) years of (full-time equivalent) verifiable engineering design and construction project experience. Substitution Additional engineering experience as outlined above may be substituted for the above education on a year-for-year basis. A college degree is preferred.
