Senior Building Inspector
The City of Miami Beach is seeking a Senior Building Inspector. This position involves conducting or supervising technical field inspections of buildings, structures, and premises during various phases of construction and use including high rises and other more complicated structures. The job requires recommendations for methods, materials, equipment, and alterations to assist in compliance with accepted standards, checking building plans to ensure actual construction conforms to approved plans, investigating and resolving complaints, and performing related work as required.
Minimum requirements include certification from the State of Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB) and local certification by the Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA). To qualify as Senior Building Inspector, must be certified by the Board of Rules and Appeals and meet at least one of the following criteria : possess a minimum of five (5) years of construction experience in the HVHZ after licensure and have one of the following : Florida Registered Architect License, Florida Registered Professional Engineer license, General Contractor licensed by the State of Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board or the Miami-Dade County Construction Trades Qualifying Board. In lieu of the HVHZ experience, has completed an eight-hour HVHZ training course approved by the Board of Rules and Appeals before certification. Must also possess a valid drivers license.
Physical requirements include the use of sensory skills to communicate and interact, the physical capability to use office equipment, and the ability to bend, climb, and drive an automobile.
For all positions, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups is required. For technical, professional, supervisory, and managerial positions, the ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to issues consistent with the Citys strategic plan is also required.
