A distinguished Japanese restaurant in New York City is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead its kitchen team. What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage a culinary team of 15+ staff members , ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency in all kitchen operations.
- Oversee preparation and execution of a diverse menu, with opportunities to contribute creative input to specials and seasonal offerings.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and organization.
- Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to foster a strong, collaborative team culture.
- Manage inventory, vendor relationships, and food costs while meeting quality and presentation standards.
- Collaborate with ownership and management to support overall restaurant goals and guest experience.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in Japanese cuisine (sushi, robata, kaiseki, or izakaya styles).Leadership experience managing 15+ staff in a high-volume kitchen.Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to lead by example.Passion for authentic Japanese cooking, paired with creativity and openness to innovation.Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations, safety, and cost control.What We Offer
