Unit Secretary - Med / Surg - Canonsburg Hospital - Full Time

The unit secretary serves to support and enhance the activities of the nursing unit by effectively communicating, transcribing orders, chart maintenance, and maintaining an organized work environment.

Essential Responsibilities :

• Performs clerical duties related to admission, transfer, and discharge, maintenance of patient activities for the records, telephone answering, and unit reception. (50%)
• Transcribes orders subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary. (40%)
• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members regarding patient care and other issues. (10%)

Qualifications : Minimum :

Preferred : Experience with medical technology, data entry, previous clerical experience in a health care environment preferred.
