District Safety Manager – Jacksonville, FL
Our client, a leader in residential and commercial waste management, is seeking a District Safety Manager to oversee safety and compliance across three Jacksonville-area operations.
The District Safety Manager will lead a team, supporting a district with 150 trucks and more than 300 employees. This position will focus heavily on safety training, compliance, and risk management while fostering a strong safety culture across all locations. The ideal candidate brings experience in trucking, a strong understanding of DOT and OSHA regulations, and the ability to engage and motivate teams.
Responsibilities :
- Implement and coordinate district safety programs to ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company policies.
- Partner with the General Manager to develop district-specific safety plans.
- Conduct site assessments and monitor compliance with safety standards.
- Provide training, mentoring, and oversight for operational safety programs.
- Analyze incident data and risk trends to recommend preventive actions.
- Act as liaison between the company, insurance representatives, and regulatory agencies.
- Identify and coach employees working in high-risk environments.
- Provide input on the annual safety budget and participate in corporate safety committees.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.Minimum of four years of relevant experience in safety management within trucking or transportation.Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA compliance, and Workers’ Compensation.Proven experience developing and delivering safety training.Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Positive, proactive, and team-oriented approach with strong attention to detail.
