Position Summary :
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for dispatching and forecasting equipment to ensure equipment levels are maintained at terminals / ports, as designated by the demand of stakeholders.
This position is also responsible for maintaining various reports and providing reports to management on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
The duties of this role include reviewing, processing, and inputting manual invoices into proprietary systems (CMS) for payment processing The Logistics coordinator oversees local training and interaction with the local motor carrier community.
Responsibilities :
- Coordinate daily supply and demand forecasting of intermodal chassis
- Maintain inventories, and issue flips and swings as necessary
- Coordinate & process dispatch requirements in support of bare chassis repositioning in multiple markets
- Oversee and maintain the spreadsheets and reports for the coop and de-coop projects
- Communicate with area depots, marine, and rail terminals to resolve service issues
- Assist Data department in reconciling depot and terminal inventories
- Provide a personable, professional, and confident customer experience over the phone
- Communicate with motor carriers regarding service levels and adherence to service guidelines
- Recommend chassis supply solutions during peak periods or special customer needs
- Prepare and disseminate information to management
- Negotiate drayage rates with motor carrier companies to ensure best terms
- Monitor & report on service levels to drive vendor choice
- Maintain records of vendor rate agreements
- Process vendor invoices for payment as required
- Accept or reject vendor invoices per rate and job order agreements
- Manage department projects (voluntary withdrawals, etc.) as assigned
- Train colleagues in day-to-day processes and systems to ensure operational continuity
- Provide consistent and timely communication to customers and stakeholders pertaining to all aspects of equipment movement
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years experience, with prior experience in dispatch operations or logistics / equipment control, is preferred.
- Ability to adhere to procedures, standards, and activities
- Demonstrated Can Do attitude by displaying the ability to use perseverance and initiative to ensure top performance, quality, and service
- Be proactive and work well under pressure
- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize daily
- Proficient in the use of the web-based application
- Ability to work independently at times, with sound decision-making ability
- Ability to work occasional weekend duties for holiday or contingency coverage
- Personable, confident, and able to effectively respond to customer problems, requests, and requirements
