Hardware Intern - Summer 2026

Role begins mid May 2026.

About the Role You will help prototype and refine the physical presence of our AI companions that foster comfort and connection.

Responsibilities Prototype physical devices  Work with electronics, microcontrollers, and IoT systems Integrate hardware with software / AI systems Rapidly iterate and test devices in real-world environments Support user studies in senior-care facilities to evaluate prototypes Ideal Background Experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar platforms Comfort with rapid prototyping, 3D printing, or electronics design Familiarity with hardware-software integration Interest in physical computing and human-device interaction What You’ll Gain Practical experience developing interactive hardware prototypes Exposure to real-world testing in senior-care environments The opportunity to bring AI into tangible, human-centered form This is a four day in office position.

The office is located in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA.

Role is an unpaid three month long summer opportunity with the possibility of a paid role offer after three month probation period.
