Responsibilities
The Controller's Office offers career ladders for many of our positions which allow tenured employees promotional opportunities within their job. The successful candidate will be hired at the most appropriate level of The Deposit Accounting Manager I through IV, based on education and experience.
This position is within the Deposit Accounting team of the Florida State University Controller's Office.
Supervises the Deposit Accounting team and oversees the performance, evaluation, training, and development of staff. Oversees staff functions including deposit matching and posting; developing and maintaining systems and procedures to identify and record deposits; providing departmental training and support; and reconciling databases and systems to ensure timely, accurate deposit processing.
Directs staff activities related to the university's eCommerce payment systems and merchant services, including the processing of credit card refunds, voids, and chargebacks. Manages the administration of university merchant fees and related activities and confirms the accuracy and payment of monthly charges.
Serves as the primary liaison on the reconciliation of deposit transactions. Ensures timely, thorough reconciliation of all deposit-related activity to the university's bank statement. Attends monthly bank reconciliation meetings and communicates with other areas as needed to resolve outstanding deposits in a timely manner.
Maintains sound fiscal controls. Reviews daily and monthly reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely completion. Monitors trends and key indicators of deposit processing and merchant services. Identifies problem areas with awareness to recognize potential areas of non-compliance. Makes recommendations for the improvement of procedures and outcomes through routine monitoring, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and process development.
Ensures adequate internal business process documentation as well as backup and cross training in critical and ancillary business functions. Ensures university trainings are regularly offered and reference guides are up to date. Participates in disaster recovery or other planning, testing, and execution.

Qualifications
Master's degree in accounting, finance, or similar field and three years of experience; or a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or similar field and five years of experience; or a high school diploma / equivalent and nine years of related experience. (Note : a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)
Level I - Master's degree in accounting, finance, or similar field AND 3 years' experience, OR Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or similar field AND 5 years' relevant experience OR a combination of post-high school, relevant education and accounting, finance, or similar experience equal to 9 years.
Level II - Level I requirements plus an additional 2 years' relevant experience OR a CPA certification. FSU Financial Representative Certificate and FSU Customer Service Certificate preferred.
Level III - Level II requirements plus an additional 2 years' relevant experience.
Level IV - Level III requirements plus an additional 2 years' relevant experience.

Anticipated Salary Range
The anticipated starting salary for this position is $64,000, commensurate with experience and education.
