The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who can handle a busy caseload, collection and organization of documents, has great communication, time management, and organizational skills, and can assist the attorneys with probate, trust administration, and family law matters. Law office experience is strongly preferred, but if a candidate does not have actual law firm experience, course work in paralegal studies is required. We are looking for someone who is eager to jump right in and join our team. Compensation commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with attorneys
- Review and draft routine legal documents
- Create and maintain case files
- Facilitate the meeting of attorney's deadlines by keeping organized schedules and providing timely reminders
- E-file pleadings
- Manage and prepare discovery / disclosures
- Communicate directly with clients and respond to client inquiries
Qualifications
Experience as a legal assistant or paralegal required (preferably in the areas of probate and / or family law)Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate preferredFamiliarity with legal documents and terminologyWorking knowledge of WordPerfect, Essential Forms, Microsoft ExcelStrong writing and communication skillsSystematic and able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlinesSelf-starter and ability to work independentlyAble to work as a team with attorneys and other colleaguesDemonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor and ability to translate that demeanor when speaking with clients and other parties / offices
