Schedule : Tue-Thu 10am-6pm

Working in the Healthy Transitions Team the Peer Mentor is a Young Adult (YA) who has personal experience living with and recovering from mental health needs, substance misuse and / or traumatic life concerns.
The TIP Mentor has experienced challenges in one or more areas that interfered significantly within everyday life. The TIP Peer Mentor is a "graduate" of the TIP service providing the benefit of a positive experience to help other YAs reach their goals and aspirations.
Responsibilities include :
- Working with the Youth and Young Adults (if YYA chooses) to enhance skills of self-direction and empowerment
- Providing 1 : 1 support, coaching and modeling to support and improve engagement in
- Helping the YYA to develop supportive relationships and community
- Promoting the development of healthy lifestyles and wellness practices, including substance misuse.
- Supporting the YYA in the development of self-sufficiency and positive employment
- Helping the YYA to identify their needs and goals relating to their TIP plan and the TIP

Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience as a recipient of services for people with psychiatric conditions and evidence personal recovery (self-knowledge and habits needed to support one's own health) required.
Experience as a service recipient in the EYAP preferred / TIP services preferred
- All applicants must be able to become CPR, First Aid certified within 2 weeks of employment. Must be able to become TIP Mentor Orientation as well as participation in Gathering and Inspiring Future Talent or a Peer Skills Training program provided by a community partner
- All candidates must be able to successfully pass a CORI, reference, and driving record check
- Access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport YYA strongly preferred
- A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment. Incumbents must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least one year, and must be able to pass a driver's screening background check
