Accounts Payable Specialist (Hybrid)
The Hatcher Group seeks an enthusiastic and organized Accounts Payable Specialist interested in joining an innovative, growing company! The AP Specialist will be responsible for processing, tracking, and recording payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner and will have a daily, ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued partners.
The ideal candidate will be able to identify efficient process improvements, value accuracy and timeliness, and prioritize excellent customer service.
At Hatcher, we are proud to maintain a 'flexible first' work culture. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance to our Bethesda office for regular in-person collaboration.
The target salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience and internal equity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Own day-to-day accounts payable activities for the firm, seeking appropriate authorization and documentation prior to payment.
- Reconcile monthly credit card transactions and expense reports.
- Perform general ledger journal entries and bank reconciliations as part of month-end closing.
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll, 401(k) administration, and other benefits support.
- Assist with gathering documentation in support of monthly invoicing process.
- Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors.
- Assist with documentation for year-end closing and annual tax preparation.
- Perform ad hoc requests as requested by supervisor or firm leadership.
- Flexibility to quickly adapt when other high-priority needs cause priorities to change.
Qualifications and Skills :
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field plus 2 to 5 years of experience, with at least 2 years of direct accounts payable experience preferred.
- Prior experience coding and processing a significant volume of credit card transactions is highly desirable.
- Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, V / Xlookup).
- Previous experience with accounting software and online platforms, knowledge of Sage Intacct a huge plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong work ethic and ability to independently manage workload.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage firm deadlines.
