Position Overview

This role is the company's first technical accounting and reporting leader, to provide US GAAP expertise applicable to leading SaaS companies and now the emerging needs of AI-related accounting (e.g. consumption revenue, forward deployment of applied AI services, to name a few). The role requires supporting the company's quarterly and annual audits, working closely with the accounting team. There is an opportunity to develop the team and set the standard for strong internal controls and systems. This role will lead a team of 1 person now and will be responsible for developing accounting policies, supporting their PCAOB audit and driving technical areas such as ASC 606 (Revenue), ASC 718 (equity & stock based comp) and ASC 842 (Leases). Experience with IPO and S-1 drafting preferred. The role will report into the CFO.

Key Duties, Responsibilities, and Deliverables

• Collaborate with the CFO, FP&A and investor relations lead to craft, calculate, and report GAAP and non-GAAP metrics
• Oversee all technical accounting areas, including documenting accounting positions according to GAAP and ensuring PCAOB compliance in all reporting
• Write and review technical accounting memos and accounting policies
• Validate consolidated and entity-level financial statements and footnotes, including for subsidiaries that may follow IFRS
• Review or support multiple books : GAAP, IFRS and tax, where applicable
• Advise management of trends and changes in reporting requirements, and make recommendations on best practices for any reporting changes
• Provide accounting guidance to cross-functional teams on complex transactions
• Liaise with external auditors, lenders, and regulatory agencies
• Oversee the preparation of materials for the board and shareholders
• Work with the internal audit team to ensure reporting remains compliant with ICFR / SOX
• Ad hoc reporting projects as required
• Lead external financial reporting tool / system implementation efforts, in collaboration with external consultants to implement the company's XBRL tagging system

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation : $150,000+ annually for candidates in the Bay Area, plus equity. Actual compensation will depend on factors including education, skills, experience, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
