Position Description

The Masters of Arts in Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology : Prevention and Treatment program in the Department of Psychology at the University of Washington invites applications for a 50% time Part Time Lecturer (not tenure eligible) to function as the Associate Director of Educational Equity for the program.

The candidate will have the opportunity to shape and implement Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts of this innovative Master’s program, and teach a yearlong course (between 1-2 credits per quarter) in Multicultural Issues in Counseling Settings.

The candidate will also join the faculty leadership team that provides oversight and coordination of all program activities.

Instructional roles related to DEI efforts include :

o Providing expertise and guidance to support successful program expansion and sustainability over time

o Implementing and expanding the program’s strategic goals, such as through faculty trainings, curriculum development, recruitment and outreach efforts, faculty retention, student mentorship programs, etc.

o Enhancing the educational experience of students and faculty from diverse backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, creed, religion, national origin, citizenship, sex, pregnancy, parental and caregiver status, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ability and veteran status.

o Chairing the program’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access committee

o Teaching a yearlong course (between 1-2 credits per quarter) in Multicultural Issues in Counseling Settings

This position has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024, for a 1-year term with a renewal decision at the end of the year (June 30th) and will have a 9-month service period, but will be a 12-month paid position (July 1 June 30).

The base salary range for this position will be $7,500 - $9,000 per month at 100% FTE, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.

S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) in Psychology or a related discipline or a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or a related discipline by the time of appointment and show a commitment to evidence-based approaches to mental health.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a record of high-quality teaching, clinical supervision and / or mentoring, expertise in multi-cultural issues in treatment, and evidence of leadership in implementing inclusion, equity and diversity goals ideally within higher education or other public serving organizations.

A demonstrated record of promoting the success of students from underrepresented groups in academia is desirable.
