Senior Vice President, Head of Excess Casualty
Location : Hybrid from Jersey City, NJ; Chicago, IL; Alpharetta, GA; Chapel Hill, NC; or Hartford, CT 06101
Compensation : $260,000 - $300,000 + bonus and full benefits

We are seeking a Senior Vice President and Head of Excess Casualty to lead and grow the strategic direction of the national Excess Casualty business. This executive role will oversee a team of approximately 30 underwriters across multiple regions and will drive the performance, innovation, and long-term success of the Excess Casualty unit.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic planning, execution, and performance of the national Excess Casualty underwriting unit
Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain top underwriting talent across all levels
Oversee the development and implementation of the annual financial plan for the unit
Collaborate cross-functionally with Underwriting, Actuarial, and Claims to refine pricing models, risk selection, and underwriting practices
Respond proactively to market shifts, competitor strategies, and broker developments
Promote a culture grounded in underwriting discipline, thoughtful risk assessment, service excellence, and teamwork
Provide technical leadership, conduct referral reviews, and offer expert guidance to direct reports
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related field
Minimum of 12 years of experience in Commercial Excess & Surplus lines underwriting
At least 5 years of direct Excess Casualty underwriting experience
Strong leadership experience managing large underwriting teams
Advanced technical underwriting expertise in commercial general liability and excess liability coverages
Proven ability to develop underwriting strategies and drive profitable results in dynamic markets
