Position Summary

Position accurately prepares and labels medications ensuring proper technique and supplies are utilized in the preparation of radiopharmaceutical drug products.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and release radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Review all quality control (QC) results performed for each radiopharmaceutical batch prepared. Determine that the specifications for QC tests have been met to release the drug for use.
  • Review and approve completed sterility test reports.
  • Investigates any QC problems or other issues noted on the batch record for the radiopharmaceutical.
  • Discuss problems noted with chemist / QC personnel, and files a report.
  • Compound, prepare, and dispense radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Perform radiopharmaceutical production and quality control testing for radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Provide training for personnel involved in the production of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Perform job related duties as required by Pharmacy Director or Pharmacist-In-Charge.
  • Generate, review, and revise documents.
  • Lead or assist new projects from initiation to completion.

Working Conditions

  • Work hours can vary depending on the schedule, will handle radioactive materials.
  • Good manufacturing practice facility and supporting laboratories involved in producing radiopharmaceuticals used for PET imaging and research.
  • Exposure to radioactive compounds on a daily basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of current state and federal regulations affecting pharmacy practice.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform duties quickly and efficiently under time constraints.
  • Registered Pharmacist with one or more years of nuclear pharmacist experience.
  • Ability to work a variety of schedules including, but not limited to, early mornings and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharm D degree and Basic Life Support certification. (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.).
  • REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATION : Current registration in the state of Missouri and / or Illinois depending on location as a Pharmacist;

new graduates may fill this role subject to limitations mandated by the Missouri and / or Illinois State Board of Pharmacy pending results of their initial licensing examination.

Basic Life Support certification required. (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.)

Grade

Salary Range

$98,700.00 - $177,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
