This pivotal role provides strategic leadership for product planning and execution, oversees cross-functional collaboration, and ensures alignment with organizational goals. The Senior Director will influence key business decisions, mentor product teams, and champion initiatives that position ATCC as a global leader in biological standards. This is a hybrid role based in Gaithersburg, MD.
Success in this role requires proven experience in product lifecycle management, market-driven innovation, and cross-functional leadership as well as scientific understanding of products in digital biology, cell biology and microbiology. Responsibilities include analyzing market trends, defining long-term product vision, and guiding successful launches that advance scientific progress worldwide.

Responsibilities
- Product Strategy and Vision : Define and execute a comprehensive product vision to drive business growth through innovative enhancements and strategic new offerings in the life sciences market. Develop short- and long-term strategies that align with organizational objectives and market needs.
- Leadership and Team Alignment : Manage and guide the product team, ensuring goals translate into actionable strategies. Collaborate cross-functionally with senior leaders to enhance existing products and launch new ones successfully.
- Market and Customer Integration : Oversee product lines and pricing strategies using market research and cost analysis. Leverage valuable voice-of-the-customer insights to strategically shape product direction and sustain a competitive edge in the market.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 18 or more years' experience, including 4+ years of supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (PhD + 11 years or Masters + 16 years).Proven success leading teams in product management and life science or biotech industry experience.Scientific understanding of digital biology, cell biology and microbiology products.Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively, including performance management and professional development.Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders.Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and process improvement.Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, project management platforms).Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to leadership.High level of integrity and commitment to organizational goals and values.Benefits
The expected salary for this position is $225,000 to $240,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
