Human Resources Director, Lead HR Partner
The HR Director / Lead Human Resources Partner is responsible for the development and execution of human resource (HR) plans to support leadership in the achievement of Black & Veatch business objectives. This position is a member of the Human Resources Leadership Team and will lead all HR related activities including the development and execution of talent strategies for business sectors and regions they support. They will partner with the COE's as needed for the implementation of HR programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting the Global HR strategy to develop, execute and drive the HR strategy and initiatives. The Global leader will also provide strategic leadership, collaboration with regional HR and COE teams, and work closely with the Sector Presidents and Senior Management to optimize HR practices globally. The role requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of global HR practices, and the ability to navigate complex international HR landscapes.
This role is located onsite in Kansas City.
Key responsibilities include actively participating with senior leadership in the development and execution of HR strategies, influencing decision-making for senior business leaders by providing strategic HR insights and recommendations that align with organizational goals, providing expert direction and guidance in talent development initiatives including executive succession planning, career development and performance management, acting as a coach to leaders to foster high-performing teams and positive morale across the business, cultivating a partnering relationship with management and professionals, while maintaining an HR perspective, performing role as change agent for implementing new HR programs and / or processes, advising management and professionals on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs and procedures, analyzing and providing advice to management on methods and approaches to resolve employee work problems, assuring HR programs are carried out in accordance with company's policies and procedures, acting as a liaison between Global HR and corporate functional areas, leading strategic direction and development for one or more HR Partners within the Global HR team, identifying and assessing improvement opportunities which will add value, championing continuous improvement efforts, assessing and supporting the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements, proactively supporting, encouraging and facilitating staff to engage in continuous improvement activities.
Management responsibilities include supervising work of others, responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.
Preferred qualifications include strategic clarity and alignment with enterprise goals, ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a global environment, demonstrated success in leading cross-functional HR initiatives and COE collaboration, strong stakeholder management and internal client relationship skills, strong prioritization skills, situational adaptability and ability to manage ambiguity, global perspective of common business practices and impact on business, strong human relations skills, including ability to influence, negotiate and champion the Black & Veatch culture, and strong leadership ability.
Minimum qualifications include 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including global and multidisciplinary exposure, bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or HR certification preferred, experience supporting construction, engineering or project-based environments desirable, strong understanding of HR programs, policies, procedures, and employment law, exceptional organizational development skills, superior communication and interpersonal skills, financial acumen with the ability to interpret and leverage financial data to inform strategic HR decisions and drive business outcomes, proficient in utilizing a variety of HRIS systems to support business operations and workforce management, consistently demonstrates a dedication to ongoing professional development, proficient in Microsoft Suite, strong stakeholder management and internal client relationship skills, excellent collaboration and communication skills, and strong management and supervisory skills.
