Job Summary
The Business Development Officer is responsible for oversight of all aspects of Small Business Administration (SBA) customer relationships, including business development, risk management, operations, underwriting, and relationship management.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Originate Small Business Administration (SBA) loans, equipment leasing and Asset-Based Lending (ABL) financing transactions for small businesses nationwide.
Develop and cultivate relationships with customers and brokers who market directly to small business owners.
Utilize networking and referrals to generate business leads and identify potential small business owner borrowers.
Develop and expand market penetration in assigned locations and markets.
Demonstrate the value of the Bank's entrepreneurial lending philosophy and its ability to serve the needs of small business owners nationwide.
Develop marketing and sales strategy in collaboration with the Chief Business Development Officer and the Bank's marketing group.
Generate leads, develop completed financing applications, submit loan packages to underwriting, and present loan credits to the Credit Committee.
Recognize target market credit opportunities and present funding solutions.
Obtain customer-signed commitments after loan approval and coordinate the funding of transactions with the Bank's Operations Group.
Achieve annual production goals.
Active use of Salesforce and other supporting origination systems to help deal flow.
Basic Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Five or more years of sales experience in the financial services industry.
Strong SBA industry experience required

Proven sales ability in serving the financial needs of Small Business Owners with ability to expand business opportunities.
Proven production "SALES" of $20MM+ per year over the previous three years.
Marketing and risk management experience.
Strong credit and commercial lending skills.
Working knowledge of financial statements, cash flow analyses, and loan structuring.
Basic understanding of the SBA Loan Program.
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong account relationship management and business development / B2B sales skills.
An active referral network is preferred.
Position may be based in a preferred national location.
Want to see high performers approaching or exceeding $20m in annual SBA loans closed.
Must provide a production report with submission. (Can be as simple as business type and amount funded) - Showing they have consistently been selling SBA loans for the last 3+ years at a rate of $20mm+ per year.
Production report should include : Date loan closed, Type of loan (7a or 504), Asset type, Amount of loan, and whether they paid a referral fee to get the business.
Can be located anywhere in the US except CA and TX
