Chemical Technician
Pay rate : $22.00
Under the direction of the Chemist, responsible for generating routine assay data at a laboratory in support of exploration, mining, leaching, SXEW process, and cathode production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Exhibit 100% dedication to safe work practices 100% of the time in the laboratory.
- Help ensure environmental compliance in the Laboratory.
- Be able to effectively multitask in a high-workload, fast-paced lab environment.
- Plan and control analytical work to effectively utilize resources with minimum or no direction.
- Effectively and efficiently manage and report data.
- Organize, weigh, digest, dilute, and assay blast hole samples as required for total copper determination.
- Identify parts, material, supplies, and equipment required to ensure continuous operation.
- Assist as directed with analysis of blast hole samples for sequential acid-soluble / cyanide soluble copper determination.
- Handle laboratory cleanup and routine reagent preparation as needed / directed.
- Maintain required training in environmental, health / safety awareness.
- Ensure all MSHA requirements are met and help review and update all laboratory safety procedures as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Technical knowledge of mining, leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning processes is highly desirable.Competent in routine laboratory techniques and common laboratory equipment used for blast hole analysis, and aqueous SXEW sample analyses are highly desirable.Familiarity with common sample preparation techniques used in support of mining operations is highly desirable.Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with employees, other supervisors, and managers.Must have excellent computer skills.Must have a valid driver’s license.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
AA Degree in Chemistry or Metallurgy, or a high school diploma with one year of minimum experience in a mining / production laboratory.Experience with general laboratory techniques, MS Office, and data entry.
