Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Colorado Springs, CO 80907 – Premier destination for Colorado nursing jobs with access to hiking, arts, and a welcoming community at the base of the Rocky Mountains.

Assignment Type : Travel RN, Float Pool (no home unit; assignments may vary based on facility needs)

Duration : 13-week travel nursing contract (Start : 11 / 10 / 2025, End : 2 / 7 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1780 - $1910

Number of Positions : 3 Cardiac Stepdown RN openings

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado or a participating NLC state (required)

Associate Degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)

American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required)

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required)

National Nursing Certification (ANCC approved) strongly preferred

Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience (Cardiac Stepdown, Progressive Care, or Telemetry preferred)

Ability and willingness to float to any Centura Health location within 60 miles as needed

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Assess and address patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs in a cardiac stepdown or progressive care setting

Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team

Perform therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IV therapy, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection

Advocate for patient safety, health, and rights, ensuring compassionate, relationship-based care

Educate patients and families, assess learning needs, and evaluate teaching effectiveness

Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with hospital policy and state regulations

Serve as a professional role model, mentor, and preceptor for new staff and nursing students

Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and nursing research activities

Maintain accurate professional records and pursue ongoing learning and competency development

Float to various hospital units and facilities as assigned, adapting to diverse clinical environments
