Material Purchaser & Warehouse Manager
About Us :
We are a drywall and framing subcontractor seeking an experienced professional to manage the purchasing of materials and equipment, as well as oversee our warehouse operations.
Role Summary :
This dual-role position handles the procurement and timely delivery of job-specific materials and equipment, while also supervising warehouse staff and inventory management. Ideal candidates are highly organized, proactive, and experienced in construction materials and logistics.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Materials Management
- Review and fulfill material and equipment requests from field and project teams.
- Check inventory, pull and stage materials, and coordinate deliveries to job sites.
- Research and source suppliers (including for custom / long-lead-time items).
- Obtain and compare quotes from multiple vendors; negotiate pricing and delivery terms.
- Generate and track purchase orders; manage back orders and expedite urgent needs.
- Maintain communication with suppliers and project teams.
- Schedule deliveries and coordinate logistics via Smartsheet.
- Handle equipment procurement (specs, vendors, pricing, lead times).
Warehouse Management
Supervise 56 drivers and warehouse staff.Manage warehouse inventory and maintain tracking systems (Hilti OnTrack).Oversee vehicle and forklift maintenance and driver safety training.Ensure warehouse cleanliness, organization, and equipment functionality.Conduct regular inventory audits and coordinate equipment repairs.Monitor security, access control, and maintain job files and office organization.Qualifications
57 years in construction (framing / drywall) with purchasing and warehouse management experience.Knowledge of metal studs, drywall, insulation, ACT, and related materials.Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office; Bluebeam experience a plus.High school diploma required; some college preferred.Valid CA driver's license and clean record; willing to travel to job sites.
