The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (DOR) has an exciting opportunity available for a detail-oriented individual as a Tax Examiner 1. Within this role, you will be responsible for conducting research and examining individual tax returns to ensure conformance to state tax laws and regulations. Your training will provide you with a comprehensive working knowledge of the Commonwealth's tax laws, rules, and regulations. Description Of Work :

In this role, you will learn to examine, process, and adjust individual tax returns, review legal tax documents, and internal and external resource materials included with submitted returns. If necessary, you will prepare and send documentation to consumers requesting additional information necessary to process returns. After examining and verifying returns for accuracy, you will be responsible for initiating transfer transactions of returns and payments to make corrections when errors are identified in the initial processing. Communication will be key as you will respond verbally and in writing to inquiries received from internal and external stakeholders that inquire about the status of returns or require an explanation of discrepancies or adjustments. Work Schedule And Additional Information :

Full-time employment Work hours are 9 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework : You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days a week after successful completion of required in-office training. In order to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

Salary : Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Qualifications :

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements : Two years of general office work;or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirement : You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements : This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.
