Description

The Clinical Research Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will involve reaching out to medical records departments to request patient medical records, keeping accurate documentation of request processes and study protocols, and ensuring that databases of patient and sample information are well-organized and up to date.

They may also be responsible for reviewing patient hematopathology and selecting lymph node slides to submit for staining and imaging.

They will interact directly with Castleman disease patients, work with other investigators at the CSTL on various projects, manage records request protocols, and assist with writing of regulatory documents, progress reports, grant applications and manuscripts.

The coordinator will work with a close-knit team to compile records for priority patients and to extract key medical record data into the registry database.

They may also be asked to lead clinical research projects that use data from the registry to gain new insights into the disease to help guide patients and their physicians.

Candidates must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail; willingness to take initiative; ability to work independently but also know when to seek help, and to work as part of a fast-paced and integrated team.

The individual must possess strong decision-making skills and the ability to prioritize multiple demands and priorities.

Experience reviewing medical records is a plus but not required. Experience requesting medical records and navigating large external institutions is a plus but not required.

Experience managing and executing complicated projects is desired.

Qualifications

BS degree Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Plus additional relevant data management or data analysis experience.

Strong computer skills and experience including database management, MS Excel, and PowerPoint required. Experience creating and modifying databases including REDCap and LabVantage a plus.

Experience with patient registries is a plus.

Knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes, and familiarity with Castleman disease and / or oncology clinical information and research is desirable.

High level of attention to detail, organizational skills and commitment to accuracy is required. Interest in performing medical records requests is a must.

Comfort in an iterative environment in which periodic rework is inevitable.
