Responsible for developing and executing advanced measurement programs using a variety of metrology machines, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), optical measurement systems, and other precision inspection tools. This role ensures product quality and conformance to engineering specifications through precise programming, testing, and analysis of measurement systems.
The position involves departmental operations planning and execution, with some autonomy to modify procedures and practices to meet standards of quality, volume, and timeliness.
Roles and Responsibilities :
- Measurement Science Expertise : Conduct conceptual and theoretical activities related to the science of measurement, including experimental and theoretical determinations at various levels of uncertainty using diverse metrology technologies.
- Quality Assurance and Control : Lead inspection activities, including first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final product evaluations, leveraging multiple metrology systems to ensure product quality.
- Process Optimization : Identify opportunities to improve programming and inspection processes across various metrology machines, driving efficiency and accuracy in quality operations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve dimensional discrepancies and ensure alignment with design intent.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making : Use judgment and technical expertise to troubleshoot issues across different metrology systems and propose solutions outside of established parameters for complex manufacturing processes.
- Leadership and Development : Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience, providing informal guidance and mentoring. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
- Mechanical component repair(s) : To be able to understand and replace components on the CMM or measure equipment. Probe, Module, Head, Belts, counterbalance.
Required Qualifications :
Associated Degree or a high school diploma / GED from an accredited school or institutionWith at least 6 years of relevant experience in CMM programming or metrology.Desired Characteristics :
