Description :

The Medical Assistant will manage customer flow throughout the clinic.

They will assist providers with the management and treatment of customers.

Customers come from various backgrounds and age groups, requiring individualized care.

The focus of the Medical Assistant is on collaborative, supportive, and delegated tasks as described in the Medical Assistant scope of practice.

Delegable tasks and competencies are specific to the role of the Supervising Nurse and Supervising Provider.

The Medical Assistant will receive direction and collaborate with the Clinic Supervisor and Providers to meet defined goals.

Communication with the health care team regarding progress, concerns, questions, or problems is essential.

Clinical Care :

The Medical Assistant will perform clinical and clerical tasks to assist with customer management.

Tasks include standard rooming processes, administering immunizations, injections, and other medications as directed by providers.

They will also perform laboratory specimen collection as needed.

Depending on the specialty and clinic location, additional tasks may include providing telephone support, facilitating communication between customers and providers, assisting with prescription refills, performing x-ray duties if qualified, performing phlebotomy duties, and conducting clinic laboratory tests.

Clinic Support :

The Medical Assistant may provide support to the clinic through front desk / check-in assistance.

They will be responsible for ordering and stocking supplies, as well as assistance with prior authorizations.

Other :

The team member is accountable for demonstrating proficiency in the skills outlined in the Medical Assistant scope of practice.

They must maintain skill proficiency, including improvement and upgrading new skills as necessary.

The Medical Assistant takes direction from the Physician, Provider, Registered Nurse, Clinic Supervisor, and Clinic Manager.

Compliance :

They must understand and follow principles and standards outlined in the Corporate Code of Conduct.

Protecting customer and team member privacy is crucial.

They will access customer-related information only as needed to perform job duties.

Reporting violations or areas of concern to the Supervisor is essential.

Recognizing and complying with legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements related to responsibilities is required.
